Why Concrete?

There are many benefits associated with concrete construction, but one of the least often mentioned is sustainability. Concrete, in fact, is extremely thermally efficient (naturally insulated), making it very energy efficient.

One benefit of concrete is its natural resistance to mold, which greatly reduces health concerns from VOCs and off-gassing. In addition, concrete structures are completely recyclable, making concrete an environmentally friendly building material.

Concrete parking lots may cost more than an asphalt lot but the positives of having concrete outweigh the price. Concrete parking lots last longer, require less maintenance and hold up better than asphalt lots.

The best type of parking lot for heavy loads is made of concrete. Concrete parking lots can hold up to heavy traffic and heavy load traffic without developing ruts and potholes like asphalt parking lots.

Concrete Foundations

We pour new foundations and begin all projects by inspecting the property or existing foundation of your home or building. This involves an evaluation of any damage, but also determining if any dangerous conditions may have been caused, or is the result of, that damage.

Poured concrete foundations can significantly reduce the potential of basement water problems down the road. This is due to the strength and density of the concrete, as well as the joint-free construction.

Concrete is exceptionally adaptable; it can be stamped and colored to look like stone, brick, or other curbing materials creating an inviting trompe l’oeile effect around your home or building.

When it comes to water control around a foundation, there are several approaches we can take. This includes drains to move water away from the bottom of the foundation, water treatment of the foundation walls themselves, and ground surface treatment of adjacent areas to direct surface water away.

The structure you are planning to build will only be as good as the foundation on which it rests. Compromising on materials and methods will only result in a failed effort in both the short and the long term. Invest in the best foundation you can afford. We offer professional estimates and expert advice to help you make informed decisions about your project.

Concrete Footings

Footings are an essential part of foundation construction. Concrete footings are designed to support the foundation and prevent settling of the foundation. Footings must be established especially in locations where the soils are unstable. Footings are the lowest part of the foundation and generally sit atop excavated and compacted soil or rock. The weight of what’s built on top is transferred from the footing onto the Earth below.

The construction of footings is a very intricate process. Our team will first assess the size and type of the structure to be built along with the soil conditions and then decide, based on the dimensions of the structure, the proper width, depth, and exact placement for the footings. The exact placement of footings is vital to provide durable, long-lasting support for the foundation and entire structure.

Concrete footings are used in multiple structures. Learn more below about the types of projects that will need strong footings.

Concrete foundations & Footings Work

The concrete mix used for your footings must be formulated to support the weight and load of the structure being built. The same concrete that’s used for a bridge footing would be way more than necessary to support a deck. The typical residential footing has a psi rating of between 3500 – 4000 psi. Even though a strong concrete you would need a much higher psi rating for larger industrial or commercial structures.

Foundations and footings go together as an essential duo in building a strong and successful structure. The two team up like superheroes to support the immense weight of large structures. The footing supports the foundation that supports the walls and beams that supports the roof. The weight of the structure is transferred downward until ultimately it all rests on the footing.

Concrete Curbing

Our team enjoys projects that increase the value of commercial buildings or lovely homes. Concrete curbing complements the beauty of any landscape design and becomes a perfect root barrier for sod and seeded grasses.

Concrete curbing will add an aesthetic appeal and add a long-lasting value to any landscape project and increase return on investment come time to sell. Concrete curbing attractively separates traveled and untraveled areas in addition to helping strengthen existing pavement, protecting road edges against cracking and breaking.

Concrete curbing is much easier to care for than other types of lawn edging as it will not fade, fall apart, or deteriorate from the elements or contact with lawn care equipment.
